Bernice Ruth Hammond was born March 8th 1943 in Trinidad, Colorado to Lester and Evelyn (Hunn) Woodson. She was the 4th and last child born into the family.
The Woodson family moved to Kansas for several years before relocating to Denver, Colorado where Bernice attended Manual High School.
On June 5th 1959 Bernice wed Theodore Y. Jones in Denver, Colorado and moved to Pueblo, Colorado. To this union four children were born, Rendel, Jennifer, David, and Timothy.
The family later moved back to Denver, Colorado where she worked for the City and County of Denver as a Clerk and Recorder until her retirement in 1989.
She was happiest when being with family and friends and had a wonderful sense of humor that could brighten any room. She was an avid reader of books, magazines and loved the Denver Post. She also enjoyed cooking and watching movies of her favorite actors such as Will Smith, Denzel Washington, and James Earl Jones.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Evelyn Woodson, her brother Ervin Woodson, her daughter Jennifer A. Smith, and her son Rendel A. Jones and her infant granddaughter, Kephra Farad.
Bernice passed away peacefully at home on Friday, December, 17th 2021. She is survived by her sons: David (Mary) and Timothy Farad, her sister Barbara Griffin, her brother Sherrill Woodson, 12 grandchildren (Jasmine, Gabrielle, Khadijah Justin, Rendel, Joshua, Abeni, Jarrod, Aquilah, Shakir, Khalil and Kemshah) and 5 great-grand children (Nariah, Davon, Dalonie, Prince Michael, and Orlando); and a host of cousins, nephews, nieces and close family friends.
