Beather Evon Lewis was born on March 7, 1934, in Meridian, Mississippi to parents, Beather Lewis and Rubie Mae Wooten Lewis. As a child he was close to his only sister, Ruby Janell. He received his formal education in Collinsville, Mississippi. On August 15, 1953, Evon united in holy matrimony to the former Nannie Elizabeth Johnson. To this union, Harold and Thomas were born. In 1962, the family relocated to Denver, Colorado. Evon was a man who took great pride in providing and caring for his family. They shared many happy and precious moments together. He was later blessed with four grandchildren; Natalie, Darren, Nicole, Nia and his two great grandchildren, Nile and Nhandi. Evon was known for being a proud and doting grandfather. Evon was employed by Electron Steel Foundry. He was hard-working, dedicated and dependable. He retired after 33 years of faithful service. After retiring from Electron, he was employed with Budget Rental Cars and remained there for of 12 years. A man of faith and belief in the Lord, Evon was a faithful and dedicated member of St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church. He joined the church under the pastoral leadership of Reverend Fred Hopson, Jr. He was a member for 30 years. He served his church and the Lord as a member of the Usher Board. Evon was a fun loving man, who enjoyed life and socializing. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing and listening to the "down home blues." He was known for talking on his CB Radio, where he was affectionately known as "The Brown-eyed Devil." One of his quirks was eating his dinner and dessert at the same. He was an "early to bed and early to rise" type of man. He will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this one of a kind man. Beather Evon Lewis departed this life to the embrace of the Lord on September 10, 2015, in Denver, Colorado. Those left to cherish his memory and mourn his loss include his loving and devoted wife, Nannie E. Lewis of Denver; two sons, Harold E. Lewis of Borderville, Oklahoma and Thomas R. (Evelyn) Lewis of Denver; his sister, Rubie J. Moore of Meridian, MS; four grandchildren, Natalie D. Lewis, Darren A. Lewis all of Denver, Nicole D. (Wesley) Harris of New York City, New York and Nia M. Lewis of Oakland, California; two great grandchildren, Nile R. Hudson and Nhandi I. Hudson both of Denver, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
