Beanca Draper

Bianca Esmeralda Draper was born on August 26, 1950, in the British Virgin Islands to her parents, Gerald Pickering and Anita Thomas Pickering. She was the second child born in the family. She was raised surrounded by her brothers, Gerald, Heraldo, Graciano, William, Alex, Antonio, Howard and her sisters, Alicia, Lena, Linda and Violet. The family eventually relocated to the United States and Beanca received completed her education in New York. She later furthered her education by completing courses at the Pikes Peak Community College in Colorado Springs, Colorado. It was while living in Colorado Springs that she met and later married James A. Draper. To this union, Jameidra and James, Jr. were born. She was also the proud mother of Sean, Norman, Shana, Hakeem and Kenya. The family shared many happy and precious moments together. She was later blessed with fourteen grandchildren Javonte, Jakori, Jada, Breanna, Josiah, Shatarra, MyJalon, Victory, Tequan, James, T'Kari, Jasiri, Tyseonna, and Blue who all were an additional source of joy and pride in her life. They fondly remember her teaching them to cook. By profession, Beanca was employed by Clayton College in Administration. She was hard-working, dedicated and performed her duties with a spirit of excellence. Beanca was a fun loving woman who enjoyed life and those she encircled. In her free time, she enjoyed cooking, baking and inviting family and friends and over to fellowship together. She was a person who never met a stranger. She had several close friends who she loved and treated as family. She will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this kind and wonderful lady. To know Beanca was to love her. She is preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Anita Pickering and two sisters, Lena and Linda Lee. Beanca Esmeralda Draper departed this life on February 11, 2015, in Aurora, Colorado. Those left to cherish her memory and mourn her loss include her husband, James A. Draper, Sr., Houston, TX; 3 sons, Sean P. Yearling, Denver, Norman L. Mabry, Lakewood, CO, James A. (Ashley) Draper, Jr., Aurora; 2 daughters, Shana N. Mabry, Jameidra A. (Leonard) Rice; her niece and nephew, in whom she rasied Kenya J. Pickering and Hakeem E. Pickering, all of Denver; 8 brothers, Gerald (Gladys) Pickering, Denver, Heralda Pickering, Colorado Springs, CO, Graciano Pickering, Aurora, William (Monique) Pickering, Cotton Port, LA, Alexander (Donnell) Pickering, Alexandria, LA, Antonio (Diane) Pickering, Cotton Port, LA and Howard Newsome, Aurora; 2 sisters, Alicia (Melvin) Richardson, Alexandria, LA, and Violet Pickering, Denver; 14 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins other relatives and many friends.
