Babette Larie McDonald was born on July 1, 1960 to Carl Broadus and Joanna Dixon-Broadus. Babette was the first of four children, and the oldest by three minutes to her twin, Bridgette. Bridgette and Babette, being twins, had a bond that could not be broken; they were literally two peas in a pod. In addition to Bridgette, Babette had the privilege of being raised surrounded by her sisters, Desiree, and Tywana, and her step-brothers, Jonathan, Marcus, Reginald, and Leslie. Babette attended George Washington High School in Denver, Colorado, where she met her future husband, Clyde McDonald, in 1977. After graduating in 1978, she went on to attend Barnes Business School, obtaining a two-year Associates Degree in Business. She and Clyde were later married on September 14, 1983, at the Denver County Courthouse. She then went on to work at the Arapahoe County Department of Motor Vehicle, where she would spend 15 years before retiring to become a full-time grandmother. In 1987, Babette became a faithful member of Now Faith Christian Center, where she was saved and baptized. She became involved in the choir and volunteered in the nursing home ministries for a period of time as well. The church family will surely miss her smothered green chili burritos that she would make for them on the weekends. Clyde and Babette McDonald were the proud parents of two sons, Clyde Marquis McDonald, and Antowine Jor-El McDonald. Babette was a dedicated mother who influenced her children to always do the right thing. She was later blessed with four grandchildren, Keshia Renea McDonald, Kai Anya McDonald, and Roman Carter McDonald. Babette loved and cherished her relationship with her grandchildren and instilled in them the same values that she displayed for her children. Babette was loved by many including her family and friends, and remained very close to her sister-in-law, Lola Morris, and best friends, Shelly Brown, and Charise Thomas. They will all miss the close times they shared together. Babette was preceded in death by her father, Carl Broadus. Babette Larie McDonald departed this life into the embrace of the Lord on June 15, 2015 in Lone Tree, Colorado. Those left to cherish her memory and to mourn her loss include her husband, Clyde E. McDonald, her sons, Marquis (Erin) McDonald, Antowine McDonald; her mother, Joanna Thompson; her sisters, twin, Bridgette Rimmer, Desiree Broadus, Tywana Smith; her grandchildren, Keshia McDonald, Kai McDonald, Roman McDonald; her step-brothers, Jonathan Broadus, Marcus Broadus, Reginald Broadus, Leslie Broadus; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
