Audrey Mae Clarke Wilcox was the fifth child born to her parents, Alva Clarke, Sr. and Alberta Boyd Clarke, born January 9, 1929 in Jacksonville, Florida. She was raised surrounded her brothers, Alva, Jr. and Bernard, and her sisters, Vivan, Agnes, Bonnie, Doris, and Cynthia. As a child, she loved cleaning the house, and putting on make-up. Audrey attended Manual High School in Denver and continued on to nursing school in Denver graduating as a LPN. Audrey was a nurse at the Children's Hospital in Denver. Audrey met and married the love of her life Edward Wilcox in October 20, 1949. They had a wonderful life, traveling, visiting family, caring for each other and their children. Audrey was a member of St. Matthews Catholic Church for many years. She believed that Jesus Christ was her Lord and Savior. Audrey was a loving and kind woman who enjoyed life and those she encircled. In her free time Audrey loved taking care of her husband, cleaning cooking and being surrounded by family and friends. Her closest friends will miss the many conversations they shared together and the fact that she was a true and trusted friend. She will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this kind, wonderful and amazing woman. Audrey was preceded in death by her parents, Alva and Alberta Clarke; two sisters, Vivan, and Agnes, and one brother, Bernard; stepson, Edward Wilcox, Jr.; step grandchild, Michelle Jones; mother-in-law, Elizabeth Douglas; and sisters-in-law, Alberta Connley, and Inez Howard. Audrey Mae Wilcox went home to be with the Lord on April 30, 2015, at University Hospital in Denver Colorado. Those left to cherish her memory and mourn her loss include her loving and devoted husband Edward Wilcox, 2 step-children, Alexander Wilcox-Jones (Sandra) of Chester, Virginia, Kathryn Taylor of New Orleans , La. 3 siblings; Bonnie Simms of Jacksonville Fla., Alva Clarke, Jr. of Englewood , Calif., Doris Watkins of San Diego, Calif., Cynthia Shannon of New Haven Conn., 11 step- grandchildren, devoted niece Sandra Plummer and devoted nephew, Stanley Howard of Denver Colorado., and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friend.
