Arthur Humphrey

September 6, 1931 — September 4, 2014

Arthur Chester Humphrey was born on September 6, 1931 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to his parent, Charlie Humphrey and Luviena Jackson Humphrey. He was the first of three children born, and the only boy in the family, raised surrounded by his sisters, Addye, and Wilma. They recall, Arthur, as a child, walking through the woods just enjoying nature. Arthur attended and graduated from Miller Washington High School in Red Bird, Oklahoma. After High School, Arthur enlisted in the US Army. Beginning in 1952, he served our country in Fort Linnerwood, Missouri until he was honorably discharged and released from active duty in January 1956. Arthur met Artlitria Fox and on October 30, 1959, they were married in Muskogee, Oklahoma. To this union, two children were born, Darryl, and Burney. They have wonderful memories of having fun and laughing together, and the pure joy and happiness of being a part of this loving family. Later, he gained an added source of joy in his 3 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. By profession, Arthur was an entrepreneur baker. He would bake pastries for anybody who would ask, and special occasions. He was an outstanding baker and all who partook of his pastries would agree. In his free time, Arthur enjoyed attending church, bike riding, watching movies, cooking, and spending time with his friends. His closest friends included, his son, Burney, his sister in Christ, Bonnie Mantooth, and his brothers and sisters in fellowship, they will all miss the bond they shared and the fact that he was a true and genuine friend. He will be remembered most for his caring personality and beautiful smile. To know Arthur was to love him. Arthur Chester Humphrey departed this life to join family and friends that preceded him in death on September 4, 2014, in Aurora, Colorado.
