Annie Laura Grove was born on February 21, 1927 in Ashville North Carolina, the only child of Reverend Charles Russell White and Annie Sue Flack White. As an only child, Annie was showered with love and attention. She received her primary education in Ashville. She loved learning and was a good student. Annie expanded her life experience through reading. She found reading allowed her travel to far-away places. After graduating from high school Annie attended Paine College in Augusta, Georgia for two years. While in college she met Harwood (Holly) Grove. Harwood was a handsome young man who sweep her off her feet. They were married on March 4, 1946 and moved to Denver, Colorado in 1949. To this union, two sons were born, Reginald and Winston. Because Annie was an only child she embraces the love and closeness of her husband’s siblings and family. She especially enjoyed the frequent family gathers during the holidays. She was an excellent southern cook. Sharing good food, conversation and fellowship was among she favorite and most memorable activities. She was a devoted wife and mother and her family always came first. Annie was primarily a stay at home Mom. She gave her boy the love, guidance , and foundation they needed to be successful. She later worked for Denver Public Schools as a Teacher’s Aide. She was able to share her love of learning with her students. She had a positive impact on young people for over 20 years and retired in 1993. Annie and Harwood joined Zion Baptist Church in Denver in 1949. They were active and devoted members until their deaths. Annie sang in the church choir and was a member of the Missionary Society. She was also active in the Zion’s Women’s Day celebrations. Annie’s strong faith in God sustained her throughout her life and especially during her later years while living in Jewell Care Center of Denver. Annie Laura Grove departed this earthly life to reside with God for eternity, on April 3, 2018. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband Holly. Those left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Reginald H (Richard Siemers) Grove and Winston W (Jami) Grove, one granddaughter Jessica M. Jones-Robinson, two great grandsons Jacob and Joseph Grove, nieces, nephews, and many others whom lives she touched. GONE BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN
