The Life of Annie Ruth Bell “She made broken look beautiful and strong look invincible. She walked with the Universe on her shoulders and made it look like a pair of wings.” Annie Ruth Bell was born February 12, 1942, in Opalika, Alabama to her parents, Thomas and Celia Brown. Annie was the first child born in her family. She was raised surrounded by her brother, Thomas Jr., and two sisters, Mattie, and Patricia. Annie was educated in the Gary Indiana Public School District and completed her formal education at Roosevelt High School. After high school, Annie met William E. L. Bell, Jr. They would become inseparable, and over time as their love for each other grew, they joined together in marriage. William and Annie would share many precious moments together and to this union, eight children were born, five sons, Ronald, William, III, Kevin, Michael, John; and three daughters, Tammy, Latoi, and Carol. Annie loved her children and family more than life itself; she was a loving and devoted mother whose pride and joy was the care and nurture of her family. She was passionate about raising her children to have good morals and show respect. Later, Annie was blessed with 33 grandchildren and 51 great grandchildren. They were an additional source or joy as she loved spending time and sharing wisdom with them. She loved her children and grandchildren and great grandchildren to the moon and back and would do anything for them. Annie moved to Colorado in 1995, to watch her children and grandchildren grow and flourish. Annie was a woman of faith and belief in the Lord. She accepted Christ at an early age and became a devoted member of New Bethel Baptist Church in Alabama. She instilled her strong Christian beliefs into her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Annie enjoyed listening to music; her favorite artist was Al Green. Annie also enjoy watching science fiction TV shows, and soap operas. In Annie's free time, she loved to cook for her family. Her food was a way of showing her family how important family isâ₦ Family gatherings were joy filled days to Annie. Annie was a fun-loving daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother. Most importantly, Annie was a woman who enjoyed life and those she encircled. Her well know saying was, “And that's that.” Annie was preceded in death by her husband, Willam E. L. Bell; her daughter, Carol Ann Bell; sons, John A. Bell, and Ronald T, Bell; brother, Thomas Brown, Sr.; sisters, Mattie Sease, Patricia Mathis; nephew and niece, Thomas Brown, Jr., and Celia Brown. Annie Ruth Bell departed this life into the embrace of the Lord on September 8, 2017 in Aurora, Colorado. She leaves to cherish her memories and to mourn her loss her daughters, Tammy L. Johnson, Latoi D. Bell; three sons, William T. Bell, Kevin J. Bell, and Michael L. Bell; 33 grandchildren and 51 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
