Anna Lawrence

April 27, 1973 — March 22, 2021

Anna Dione Lawrence was born on April 27, 1973, in San Antonio, Texas to her parents, Cecil Rayneal Lawrence and Bobby Jean Williams. She was one of two children born to this union.

Anna was born in a very large family and was loved by all of her brothers, Cecil Rayneal Williams Lawrence, Jr., Quincy Austin, Earl Williams, Danny Long, Jr. and J.R. Robinson, and her sisters Arika Lawrence Points, Trineka Lawrence, Angela Harris Bauzo, Quinisa Lawrence, and Jazmine Lockett.

Later in life, Anna’s family love was extended to her from her stepmother, Donna Jackson and brother, Richard Lawrence.

As a young child, Anna loved to care for children. When she was ten year’s old, she assisted her mother in caring for KeKe, a family friend’s, four-year-old daughter. Anna fell in love with her. Although KeKe had cerebral palsy, walked with a limp and was unable to play in a typical manner, Anna took her everywhere, every day. She had a special heart for children with special needs.

As an adult, Anna poured her love into her young stepdaughters, Cheryl Brye and Chance Brye and embraced them as her own daughters. In turn, they loved her; knew her as their mother; stood by her side thru every event of her life; and remained in a good relationship with her throughout their adulthood.

Anna had a loving relationship with the love of her life and fiancé, Mark Jewitt. The couple were engaged to be married on July 23, 2021.

Anna was raised in Denver, Colorado. She was strong, independent, and a go-getter. This was evident after she earned her General Educational Development Certification through Emily Griffith Opportunity School. Just recently, Anna had expressed her desire to go back to school to earn a bachelor’s degree in child psychology.

Anna was blessed with three children of her own Dionna Dungen Lawrence, Cubanique Lawrence, and Semaj Lawrence and three grandchildren, Ja-Marrayon Dungen, Jacob Dungen, and Sevynn Robinson. She loved her children; was loyal and devoted to their well-being; and was very proud of them. She would do anything for her children. She became the backbone of their family. Her goal for their lives was that they learned from her wisdom and life’s lessons. Anna truly wanted the best for her children and grandchildren.

Anna enjoyed traveling on road trips, cooking, dining and music. She liked all types of music. Don’t let Christmas come without her granny, Roette McCray-Taylor, aka, “Mama’s” old school favorite The Temptations Christmas CD playing in her house. She wouldn’t celebrate the holiday any other way.

Anna worked in various positions and jobs. She was a hard worker and outgoing. She even had the ambition and drive to be self-employed as a trustworthy housekeeper. Anna was definitely a people person. She loved people and was fun to be around. Whenever she worked in customer service, she had a positive attitude and kept customers laughing.

Anna also had a serious side. She was serious about her spiritual life. She loved the Lord Jesus Christ and had a relationship with Him. She served at Grace and Truth F.G.P. Church as an usher and performed in a praise dance worship selection. Before COVID-19, she diligently studied her lessons and attended Sunday School in person. Anna will be remembered for her loving and caring big heart.

Preceding Anna in death was her brother, Cecil Rayneal Williams Lawrence, Jr.

Anna Lawrence departed this life on March 22, 2021, in Denver, Colorado. Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Dionna Dungen Lawrence, Cubanique Lawrence, Semaj Lawrence all of Denver, Colorado; her mother, Bobby Jean Long of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; her brothers Richard Lawrence of Austin, Texas; Quincy Austin of Denver, Colorado, Earl Williams, Danny Long, Jr. of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, J.R.
