Truly Loved Anita Marie Bruce Anita M, Bruce , also known by her family. as Nita B, was born in Denver, Colorado on June 06, 1949 to her parents, Donald Mills and Dorothy M, Grimes. Anita was the oldest child born of six children. She had two brothers, Derrick and Cecil; and three sisters, Cynthia, Judy and Peggy. As a teen she loved taking care of her siblings while her mother Dorothy worked to provide for her family. She also loved to hang out with her cousins Monica, Rochelle and Paula they were inseparable. Her brother Derrick said he remembers as children her teasing him a lot while their mom was at work; her sister Peggy remembers her as being the best big sister ever and always having her back; her sister Judy said Anita was always calm and relaxed growing up. After getting married she would invite me for dinner. As I became an adult we washed our cars, got manicures, pedicures, shopping and went out partying. We were transparent in our relationship we talked about everything. In 1967 at the age of 18, Anita graduated from Manual High School. Shortly after graduating, She married William Hurd whom she met in high school while hanging out with her friends Debra, Sue Ann and Barbara. Out of this union came three children, Tina, Raquel and William Jr. During their marriage, she worked two jobs, one as a Nurse and the other for the Department of Social Services. After ten years of marriage, the marriage dissolved and she became a single mom of her three children. She worked hard everyday to make sure her children had the necessities they needed to become adults and start their own families. She also made sure that her children tried various activities to figure out what they wanted to become in life, from ballet to choir. After being single for quite some time she met Robert Bruce, while working at her second job doing janitorial services. They became very close and out of this union came one child Christina. Her four children remember their mother as loving, sometimes strict but a great provider and she always tried to keep them safe. She also was a proud and loving grandmother. Her grandchildren called her NGrand mom» and her great- grandchildren call her" Nita B». She loved laughing and dancing around family and looked forward to any time that would unite them all. The families fondest memories are her beautiful smile and she was always making everyone laugh. Her family enjoyed every moment they spent with her. Family was very important to Anita . She was truly the backbone of her family. Anita enjoyed watching her favorite television shows, going to Bingo and the Hills, spending time with loved ones and hanging with her best friend Samantha Shepard. Just before her death, she was looking forward to getting her nails done and going to the hills. Anita was a kind, giving, loving , funny and amazing woman with a great mind. She always offered sound advice to her family and friends. During her recent hospital stay, many would comment on how she was always smiling even when she was in pain. Her love, care, advice, strong wit, and beauty will greatly be missed by all that were blessed to know her. Anita is preceded in death by her father, Donald Mills.
