Andrew Pickford was born on February 25, 1932, in Denver, Colorado to his parents, Andrew Pickford, Sr. and Daisy Lewis Pickford. He was the firstborn of 9 siblings. He was raised by his grandmother, Ms. Jenny Pickford. Growing up, he loved the Boy Scouts, and boxing. Andrew completed his primary and secondary education in Denver Public Schools. In November 1962, he married Sandra Lyons, in Denver, Colorado. To this union, two sons, Vincent, and Leon. Andrew also raised Sandra's daughter Eunice. He had a unique relationship with his son's. Whenever you saw Andrew, Vincent and Leon "Rocky" were not far behind. The lovingly nicknamed him, "Bos Hog." Andrew always wanted to have his own business. He formed a commercial and residential cleaning company, named Home Makers of America . Through the years, he had contracts with the City and County of Denver, as well as the U.S. Government. When Andrew wasn't working, he loved taking his family to amusement parks and taking trips to the mountains. He was a lover of Jazz and Gospel Music. Andrew was a quiet, gentle man who loved life. He was raised with a strong work ethic and rarely was he found not in his "uniforms" and talking about his next venture. He always was positive and seeing "the rainbow with the "Golden Pot" beyond the clouds." If you could use one word to describe Andrew, it would be "Visionary." He would never quit searching for his dream, even as the devastating illness, Alzheimer's, began to take him from all who loved him and he loved. Andrew was loved by his many nieces and nephews, always giving them a laugh at his many "millionaire stories." He will be greatly missed. Andrew had been active in the Optimist Club of South Monaco, and the Lions Club, Denver Den. He had been a member of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church as a young man, later moving his family to Calvary Temple in Denver, Colorado, where he became a faithful and dedicated member. Andrew was preceded in death by his parents, and four brothers, Leo "Corky", Leonard "Boe", Richard, and Robert. Andrew departed this life into the embrace of the Lord early on Wednesday, October 8, 2014, after a long and debilitating journey with Alzheimer's. Those left to mourn his loss and cherish his memories include his wife, Sandra Pickford; his sons, Henry Lee Vincent, Leon Christopher Todd; his step daughter, Eunice Owens; his brothers, Lonnie Pickford, Sr., James L. (Regina) Pickford; his sisters, Dorothy (Jimmy) Nell, Joyce (Charles) Carroll-Johnson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends. Never to Suffer anymore.
