Alton Jay Love was born on December 15, 1976, in Denver, Colorado to his parents, Matthew Love, Sr. and Mary Louise Love. He was the third child born in the family. He was raised surrounded by his brother, Larry and his sister, Anita. Growing up in Denver, Alton had a pen pal and they communicated regularly with each other. He enjoyed watching scary movies and loved playing in his P-Js with his cape trying to fly like his superhero, Superman. Alton received his formal education in Denver, where he graduated from George Washington High School. On September 12, 1995, Alton enlisted in the United States Navy. While serving his country, Alton was stationed in Hawaii, Thailand, and in Washington. He earned a National Defense Service Medal, a Navy Good Conduct Medal, a Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, a Navy "E" Ribbon, a Navy Medic Corps Achievement Medal, 2 letters of Commendation, and an Enlisted Service Warfare Specialist Breast Insignia. He served with honor and distinction and was honorably discharged on August 30, 2004. After his military discharge, Alton was employed in the Healthcare Industry. He worked at Kindred Healthcare Operations in Washington as Director of Records. He was hardworking, dedicated and performed his duties with a spirit of excellence. He believed in the power of prayer and worshipped at the Prayer Memorial Church in Denver, Colorado. Alton was a fun-loving man, who enjoyed life and those he encircled. In his free time, he enjoyed dancing, singing and spending quality time with family and friends. He had a heart of gold and never met a stranger. He will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this kind and wonderful man. To know Alton was to love him. He is preceded in death by his parents and both his siblings. Alton Jay Love departed this life on February 3, 2016, in Seattle, Washington. Those left to cherish his memory include his nieces and nephews, LaShawn L. (Dennis) Brooks of Denver, CO, LaKissa (James) Bright of Austin, Texas, Michael A. Anderson, Jr., Mundie R. (Mario) Anderson all of Denver, Shay E. Lee, Mario C. (Mercedes) Anderson all of Aurora, Larry R. Strother, Jr. of Denver and Clarence E. Lee, Jr. of Seattle, WA and a host of other relatives and many friends.
