Alma D. Pearson was born on January 19, 1949, to Alton and Alma Walton in Birmingham, AL. She grew up in a loving home with 13 siblings. Alma was educated in the Gary, IN public schools system and later received her Associates Degree as a CNA.
God placed a calling on Alma's heart at an early age. She enjoyed going to church on Sundays and caring for her family. She was the staple, and enjoyed cooking her famous peach cobbler, bread pudding and pound cakes at family events. She also enjoyed providing a beautiful home for her children.
Family was Alma's priority. She was extremely proud of her children and cherished the time spent raising them. Widowed in her 30's, she taught her children how to persevere through tough times.
Alma wed James Larry Pearson in Gary, Indiana. To this union, 3 children, Shaleeta, Artrenia (Trina), and James (Lavell) were born. James preceded her in death on November 21, 1981. Alma also left to cherish her memory and mourn her loss to another son, Joshua Osbourn, 7 sisters Queen Pettaway, Eliza Shelton, Bessie Robinson (deceased), Saddie Pearl Sheffield, Sidney Walton, Hattie Scurlock, Alton Walton, Jr, Charles Walton, Barbara Gooden, Harold Walton (deceased), Deborah Russell, Dennis Walton, Donald Walton, 9 grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
