Allen Spencer Martin was born on Christmas Day, December 25, 1958, in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, to his parents, John B. Martin, Sr. and Mary Joy Boggs Martin. He was the sixth child born in the family. He was raised surrounded by his brothers, Jerry, Larry, John, Jr. and his sisters, Sharon, Yvonne, Phyllis and Kimberly. As a child, he could eat 10-12 pancakes at breakfast while the rest of the family was waiting. He also loved going fishing with Reverend Sparrow. Phillips. They first met while attending a social gathering. To this union, a beautiful baby girl they named Kamisha was born. He was also the proud father of two more beautiful daughters, LaShawn and Lina. They all fondly remember him attending graduations and birthday celebrations. He was later blessed with five grandchildren, Ajeyah, NaCari, ZaNyan and Asyah, who were an additional source of joy and pride in his life. They lovingly called him "Poppy" and fondly remember all the happy and precious moments they shared together. By profession, Allen was employed by Denver Health Medical Center in Food Services and Armco Steel in its Sanitation Department. He was hard working and dependable. He worked well with his fellow co- workers and was respected by his employers. A man of faith and belief in the Lord, Allen was a member of True Praise and Worship located in Denver, Colorado. He joined the church under the pastoral leadership of Reverend Charles West. He truly enjoyed his walk with the Lord and the wisdom and knowledge he was gaining as he studied God's Word.
