Aisha Zawadi

May 21, 1955 — February 1, 2025

It is with a heavy heart that the family of Aisha Zawadi announces that she passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at Berkeley Manor Care Center in Denver Colorado.

Aisha was born on May 2, 1955 to loving parents Elmer and Louise Johnson while they were stationed in Puerto Rico at Ramey Air Force Base.

Aisha was a beloved mother, sister, teacher and pet enthusiasts. Aisha's love for humanity, adventure and the arts led her on a journey that included community activism with the Institute of Positive Education in Chicago during her early 20's and next a stint with AmeriCorps Vista Volunteers in Kansas City.

Aisha's journey continued taking her to Bryant Texas where she served as a counselor at a wilderness therapy program for teens and young adults struggling with emotional, social and behavioral

challenges.

The next leg of Aisha's journey took her to Denver where she found her true home; where nature, community and creativity spoke to her and welcomed her. While in Denver Aisha completed her degree in art education and graduated from Metropolitan State University.

Aisha joined the staff of Stanley British Primary School in August 1995. where she became a familiar face for many years. She quickly became an integral part of the community. Her journey began as an intern, but she soon proved her passion and talent for art education. Over the years, she wore many hats, serving as an art adviser, a middle school art teacher, and a homeroom teacher. Her enthusiasm for art was contagious, and she left a lasting impact on her students, fostering their creativity and appreciation for the arts. Outside the classroom, Aisha was known for her warm and friendly personality. She had a unique ability to connect with people from all walks of life and always made time for a chat or a helping hand.

Aisha's life-long love for animals was well known by all that knew her and included a variety of pets of all sizes, variety and breeds. Her love for her four legged companions knew no bounds. Throughout her life they have included Tupac, Ash and Remington.

Aisha's presence brought joy and positivity to all who had the pleasure of knowing her, and she will be sorely missed.

Aisha was proceeded in death by parents, Elmer and Clara Louise Johnson and sister, Janice Johnson.

Aisha is survived by her loving and supportive son, Kahlil Zawadi, and sisters, Phyllis Self, Ashaki Zawadi, Ivy Chevers, Reina Barnett-Holliday and River Johnson. She will also be remembered by her uncle, Dr. Abrian McCoy Malone and aunt Bliss Ann Hunter along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, loving friends and the Stanley British Primary School community.

As we grieve the loss of Aisha, let us find comfort in the memories she has left us and the indelible mark she has made on our lives. May her spirit continue to inspire us to spread joy, foster creativity, and leave a positive impact on those around us.

Aisha is now FREE and may her spirit forever SOAR.
