Adrienne Stokes

July 24, 1952 — February 9, 2018

GOD, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds. Therefore, we must give the more earnest heed to the things we have heard, least we drift away. For if the word spoken through angels proved steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just reward. ~ Hebrews 1:1-2 & 2:1-2 The life of Adrienne Elizabeth Stokes began when she blessed her parents, Junney Snow and Monica Lee Walker with her birth on July 24, 1952 in Laurel, Mississippi. She was the third of nine children born in the family. She was raised surrounded by her brothers, Ralph, Glenn, Herman, Ryan, Tony and her sisters, Robin, Norwieda and Nina. As a child, Adrienne was loving, caring and a very giving person. Adrienne received her formal education in Hamilton, Ohio, where she graduated from Garfield High School. On April 4, 1969, Adrienne was blessed with a beautiful baby girl she named Rosalyn. A year later on December 21, 1970, she was blessed with a handsome boy she named Robert Angelo. The both remember her as a caring, kind and giving mother. She was always a wise soul who offered deep words of wisdom. Angelo brought her great joy and comfort being a star basketball player. Often after giving her 10 kisses in a row, she would tell him “stop kissing me” in a loving manner because of his beard. Later her 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren were an additional source of joy and pride in her life. For the past 11 years, Adrienne has been employed by Denver Health as a Laboratory Technician. She was hard working, dedicated and respected by her coworkers and supervisors. She was honest, fair, open to suggestions and built many long term trusted relationships with coworkers. One of her best friends and coworkers was Julie Dobberstein. She was a woman who could be depended on to get her job done with a spirit of excellence. In her free time, Adrienne enjoyed shopping and spending quality time with family and friends. Her closest nephew Marquis Ruffin and wife Missy would often come from Wisconsin just to spend time with her. Her nephew Carlos Ruffin and wife Annette of Denver were often found “hanging” with Aunt Sissy. Her cousin, Fred Lovett of Denver will miss the camaraderie they shared and listening to music. She will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this kind and caring woman who never met a stranger and was always willing to help others.
