Vivian Murphy Lewis was born in Brush, Colorado to the union of Ada Jones and Vivian Stanley Murphy on April 3, 1922. She is a product of Denver Public Schools: Whittier Elementary, Cole Junior High, and Manual High School where she received her formal education and graduated in 1939. Early in life, she made two lifelong friends. This trio called themselves the VIP's, the group consisted of Vivian, Imogene, and Prudie. They loved each other and loved taking road trips together well into their 70's and 80's. In the meantime, Vivian managed to marry her sweetheart, Henry Charles Lewis. She also became the "Super Mom" of five daughters, Yvonne, Gwenith, Carolyn, Henrietta, and Jacqueline; and two sons, Charles, and Raymond. She always taught us to respect one another. Telling us to treat others the way we wanted to be treated. Vivian worked as a keypunch operator while employed by the US Federal Government in Colorado, Arizona, and Los Angeles. While working in Los Angeles, California, Vivian retired from the Federal Government. She enjoyed crocheting. She was determined to make sure all 16 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, and 13 great-great grandchildren received a crocheted blanket with her personal touch. She loved Zion Baptist Church, Reverend Frank M. Davis, and First Lady Kathy Davis, and proved it at every turn. In fact, today could not have passed without them. Vivian was a loving gentle, kind hearted, but no push over. She'll be remembered for her sense of style, her friendly disposition, sticking closer to you than a sister or mother, and her cooking the best homemade soups, breads, and cakes. Vivian was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Charles Lewis; five of her children, Yvonne Price, Gwenith Tinsley, Carolyn J. Lewis, Henrietta Martin, and Raymond E. Lewis, and her parents. Vivian Murphy Lewis departed this life into the embrace of the Lord on December 24, 2013 in Aurora, Colorado. Those left to cherish her memory and mourn her loss include her son, Charles Lewis; her daughter, Jacqueline Ward; 16 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, 13 great-great grandchildren, a host of other relatives, and many friends.
