Riccardo House

July 11, 1939 — January 12, 2014

Riccardo Lee House was born on July 11, 1939, in Indianapolis, Indiana to his parents, James House and Rowena Hyde. He was the second child born in the family. He was raised surrounded by his brothers, William, Ed, Johnny and his sister, Andria. He received his formal education in Indianapolis where he graduated from the Crispus Attucks High School in 1958. Riccardo united in holy matrimony to the former Carolyn Stephens and to this union Terri, Vicky, Toni and Breck were born. He was later blessed with another daughter, Monica. In 1978, Riccardo wed Marzella Ann Gross and with this union, he became the stepfather of Debbie and Darrell. He welcomed them with open arms and raised them as his own. They all relocated to Denver, Colorado. The family shared many happy and precious moments together. Marzella preceded him in death. Riccardo was a hardworking man, who had many different jobs during his life. As a young man, he carried groceries for his neighbors and did odd jobs with his Uncle Harry. He worked for the Switzer Company and for the Indianapolis School Board. He worked for Country Buffet as a Waiter. He also worked for the Colorado Convention Center for 13 years until 2013. Wherever employed, he was dedicated, dependable and worked well with others. A man of faith and belief in the Lord, Riccardo has always believed in having the right relationship with the Lord. He traveled down what seemingly was a rocky road during his lifetime. In 1978, he accepted the Lord as his personal savior and freed himself from many of life's adversities. He took the path of righteousness and became a faithful and dedicated member of Odom Memorial COGIC under the pastoral leadership of the late Bishop William Odom and continued under Superintendent Wayne McDonald its current pastor. He truly enjoyed his walk with the Lord and sharing with his church family. He truly believed that he "could do all things through Christ which strengthened him." Serving the Lord was important and wanted all who he came in contact with to do the same. Riccardo was a fun loving man who enjoyed life and those he encircled. In his free time, he enjoyed spending quality time with his family and friends. He enjoyed listening to jazz music, watching sports on television, shopping and dressing in fine clothes. He loved the Lord in spirit and truth and loved going to Bible study and being a prayer warrior. He will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this kind and wonderful man of God. To know Brother House was to love him. Riccardo was also preceded in death by a son, Breck House; his mother, Rowena Wooten; and brother, William Ed Lindsey. Riccardo Lee House departed this life to the embrace of the Lord on January 12, 2014, in Denver, Colorado. Those left to cherish his memory and mourn his loss include daughters, Vicky L. (Kilpatrick) House-Horne, Terri Y. House, Monica (Jeffrey) Smith, DuerRuez "Toni" House all of Indianapolis, IN, Debbie Sims of Denver; his son, Darrell Sims, Indianapolis, IN; one brother, John House, Indianapolis, IN; one sister, Andria Davis, Scottsdale, AZ; 9 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and many friends.
