Mary Learlean Williams- Betts was born on March 16, 1937 in Pensacola, Florida. Mary attended elementary school, middle school, and graduated from St. Joseph Catholic High School in Pensacola, FL. She was a graduate of Metro State University. On January 22, 1958, Mary married James Van Betts Jr. who was serving in the U.S. Army. Mary was the proud parent of two daughters. Mary was preceded in death by her parents Vestor and Annie Lee Williams, daughter Karen Vannette Jones, and is survived by daughter Thaisa Faith Bivins. Mary was very active in the Denver and Aurora community and volunteered her services wherever possible. She was an active member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church, St Pius X and Machebeuf High School. For many years Mary was a realtor in the cities of Denver and Aurora, Co. She worked tirelessly assisting low-income families in their effort to obtain homes. She worked as a volunteer to insure disadvantaged children were afforded the best education available. She also volunteered in programs that advocated good care for senior citizens. Mary Learlean Williams-Betts departed this life on February 27, 2014 in Aurora, CO. Those left to cherish her memory include her devoted husband James Van Betts, Jr. of Aurora, CO; her daughter Thaisa Faith Bivins (Walter) of Pensacola, Fl; three granddaughters, Marrissa Antoinette Jones of Aurora, CO; Angel Hester and Kasia Howard both of Pensacola, FL; and two great grand children Kaidyn and Jalan Forbes both of Pensacola, FL and James Edward Williams Sr. of Pensacola, Fl and a host of cousins, other relatives and many, many friends.
