Juanita Elaine Boyd was born, the fourth of eight children on Valentine's Day, February 14, 1930 to Emmett John Brothers and Leberta Riddick in Norfolk, Virginia. Sometime later, Juanita's mother passed while in childbirth with triplets. Shortly after, the family moved to New York City with her father. One of Juanita's fondest memories was watching the "Lawrence Welk Show" every week with her aunt. She loved watching the dancers. Juanita was educated in the New York School System where she graduated. As a child, Juanita sometimes played hooky from school. She also attended trade school in Virginia and became a licensed practical nurse. Juanita met the love of her life, Clars David Boyd, who she lovingly called David. The two married on February 20, 1952 in Norfolk, Virginia. They were married 62 years. She so loved traveling with her husband during his 20-year career in the United States Navy. Juanita was a licensed practical nurse by profession and worked at Doctors Hospital in Seattle, Washington. She was a hardworking employee who made her patients feel comfortable. Juanita accepted Jesus Christ into her life, and was baptized. Elder and Sister Boyd were active members at Mt. Calvary Church of God In Christ (Pastor Arthur Leon Boyd) until Juanita's health dictated otherwise. Elder Boyd was an excellent caregiver for many years and was right by her side until the very end. She enjoyed spending time with her next-door neighbor, Doris Williams and her children. She enjoyed calling friends and family often just to say hi or ask about their day. Since she didn't leave the house, she would call her Sister in Law, Dorothy when she wanted what she called womanly things (she said men don't need to know about those things). She collected cups and saucer sets from around the world. She will be remembered for her never changing attitude and sense of Humor. Juanita was loving and giving. To know her was to love her. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Colden, five sisters, Madlyne, Henrietta Cecelia, Leberta, Ella, and her unnamed triplet. Juanita loved Jesus! But Jesus loved her more! So much more that He gave her a restful transition from this life to a new home. Juanita leaves to cherish her memory her loving Husband, Clars David Boyd, of Denver, CO; 1 brother, Emmett Danny Brothers of New York, NY; In-Laws: Betty Brothers, of Upper Marlboro, MD; Peggy Boyd, Jerry (Veronica) Boyd, Dorothy (Richard) Jones; of Aurora, CO; Edgar (Hilde) Boyd, of Denver, CO; Cordelia (Otis) Revels, of Highland, CA; Jan Avery of Sacramento, CA; Elder Orin (Mertice) Boyd, Sr. of Kansas City, KS, 2 aunts, Shirley Bean and Juanita Collins of Denver, CO; a host of, cousins, nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
