Jovaughn Jones

JoVaughn Gary Edward Jones was born on June 29, 1991 in Denver, Colorado to his parents, Sharon Ann Jackson and Jonathan Edward Jones, Sr. JoVaughn was the baby of five children. He didn’t have any children of his own, but was extremely close to his nephews, Messiah, Micah, and Malikai. He enjoyed spending quality time with family and loved family gatherings, especially when he knew there would be lots of good food. His favorite foods were spaghetti and his grandmother Essie’s famous hot-water cornbread. His best friend/his real-life super hero, was his brother Alex. He would say that his brothers were the best brothers in the world. He was very spoiled and always considered as the “baby” to his sisters. His spiritual up bringing was at All Nations Church of God in Christ, where he was a member of the choir, and the church step team. Though JoVaughn received a heart transplant in 2007, he graduated from Gateway High School, in Aurora, CO in 2009. He was employed by Denver Public Schools up until his health challenges forced him to leave on disability. In his younger years, he played baseball for the Blue Devils, as a first-base man, and right-fielder. He received the Blue Devils Most Valuable Player Award. He played high school football for Gateway as an offensive and defensive tackle. Also as a child, and as an adult, his passion was bowling. His goal was to bowl a perfect game of 300, and he reached that goal when he was 18. JoVaughn loved to sing. JoVaughn was a die-hard sports fan. His favorite teams were the Pittsburgh Steelers, the UNC Tarheels and the USC Trojans. He was also a WWE fanatic. He is preceded in death by his grandfathers: Roosevelt Richard, Jr., James Jones, Sr., and his mentor, Guy Nelson. JoVaughn Gary Edward Jones departed this life, to be with the Lord, on November 22, 2017 Those left to cherish his memory are: his mother, Sharon Jackson (Cleveland) of Amarillo, TX; his father, Jonathan Jones Sr.; his sisters, Shantel Jones and Shenee Nelson; his brothers, Jonathan Jones, Jr., and Alex Nelson; his nephews, Messiah and Micah Crews, and Malikai Jones; his grandmothers, Mother Essie Richard, all of Denver, Colorado and Naomi Jones; of Wichita Kansas. He leaves a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and friends. JoVaughn Gary Edward Jones departed this life, to be with the Lord, on November 22, 2017 He is preceded in death by his grandfathers: Roosevelt Richard, Jr., James Jones, Sr., and his mentor, Guy Nelson.
