A precious jewel from us is gone; a voice we loved is still, a place is vacant in our hearts that never can be filled. Safe in the arms of Jesus; Safe on His gentle breast there by His love over shadowed, sweetly her soul shall rest. Hope Lorraine Thomas was born on June 29, 1946, in Denver, Colorado to her parents, Jesse Raullerson and Laura Wofford Raullerson. She was the sixth child born in the family. She was raised surrounded by her brothers, Nathaniel, Edward and her sisters, Alma, Jessie, and Betty. Her father passed away when Hope was very young and her older siblings shared in her care while their mother worked. As a child, Hope was given the nickname, "Nosie Rosie" because she loved to tell what she heard. She loved Saturday mornings because she and her mother would go on shopping sprees. She also enjoyed listening to music, playing card games, dominoes and spending quality time with family and friends. Hope accepted the Lord as her personal savior at a very early age. She joined Zion Baptist Church under the pastoral leadership of the late Reverend Wendell T. Liggins. She believed in the power of prayer and having the right relationship with the Lord. Hope received her formal education in Denver, where she attended Whittier Elementary, Cole Junior High School and she graduated from Manual High School. She furthered her education by attending Metropolitan State College. A fond memory while in school was Hope attending "Waist Line Parties" where the entrance fee was determined by the waist size of the person. Needless to say, Hope loved the fact that her waist was always so small. Hope was the proud mother of three beautiful daughters, Renita, Michele and Dawnyle. They remember her as a mother whose pride and joy was the care and nurture of her family. Her love for them was unconditional and never ending. She later united in holy matrimony to Allen Thomas. This marriage was later dissolved but they remained friends over the years. Hope was later blessed with six grandchildren, Sander, Daionna, Misheika, Sheik'ele, Chayse and Taijeir. They lovingly called her "Granna" and fondly remember all the happy and precious moments they shared together. She truly loved her grandchildren and all the children whom she babysat as well as the neighborhood children who visited the home. A fond memory of the grandchildren was all of them putting on socks and doing there dusting performance as they listened to "Stairway to Heaven." She always made working fun for them. By profession, Hope worked in several different career fields. Her favorite job was at Gregory Systems, as an Electrolysis/Thermolysis Technician. Her most important job was that of a mother and grandmother. She loved being a part of her family's lives. Hope was a fun-loving woman who enjoyed life and those she encircled. She loved sharing with her family and friends leaving lasting memories. Her home was always opened for anyone in need. She did so willingly as long as she didn't feel she was being taken advantage of; then she would become the "suga with the buga." The family remembers her as conversing with people as if a long lost friends, only to see her embrace and say "It was nice meeting you." She was the "go to" person for anyone in need of an objective point of view or resolution. It didn't mean that she would always agree but she would tell you the truth. She loved to cook and was known for her peach cobbler, dressing and bar-b-que. She enjoyed her visit to the "Hills" and road trips just to the beauty of nature. Her favorite pet was her dog named, Joy. If the family was getting ready for a special occasion, Joy had to have a new dress as well. She will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this one of a kind lady and Queen of a Woman. To know Hope was to love her. She is preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Laura Raullerson; her brothers, Nathaniel Raullerson and Edward Raullerson and a sister, Alma Cornelius. Hope Lorraine Thomas departed this life to the embrace of the Lord on August 26, 2014, in her home in Denver, Colorado.
