Gregory Bernard McCoy was born on November 2, 1967, in Denver, Colorado to his parents, George Berman McCoy and Buelah Jean Carter. As a young man, Gregory was one who was in charge of his life and in the direction he was traveling. He received his formal education in Denver where he attended Smith Elementary School, Lincoln Elementary School, Place Junior High School and graduated from George Washington High School. He furthered his education by earning an Associates of Arts Degree in Hospitality and Business Management. During those early days, he met Michelle West and to this union, a daughter, Nathala West was born. He later met Lelia Howard and to this union, a son, Gregory B. McCoy, Jr. was born. In 1993, Gregory became incarcerated. During this time, he developed a closeness with the Lord. He became an Ausarian, he worked closely with the prison staff to help develop a stronger spiritual belief system for inmates. Gregory took courses to become a Culinary Chef. He was very proud of this accomplishment and looked forward to being able to show his family and friends his talent. He truly felt that presentation was just as important as preparation. In 1995, Gregory wed Aychin Ulvi. There were no children born to this union and the marriage was later dissolved. When Gregory returned home, he began working as a Sou Chef. He was employed by Gomez Burritos, Loews Hotel, Irish Hound and Fat Boys Bar and Grill. Wherever he worked, he was hard working dedicated and performed his duties with precision and expertise. Gregory reunited with his soul-mate Sherri Landrum. They two had known each other for over 20 years. The two shared many happy and precious moments together. Sherri fondly remembers Gregory telling her "that God had placed him on earth to help people realize who their true being was." She felt he did that with every person he came in contact with. He was truly a unique and one of a kind person. Regardless of the length of time, short or long, he left an indelible impact. Gregory was a fun loving man who enjoyed life and those he encircled. In his free time, he enjoyed listening to music, lifting weights, cooking or just having fun with family and friends. He loved calling his mother and all his friends just to hold long conversations talking about a little of everything. He will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this kind and wonderful man. To know Gregory was to love him. Gregory was preceded in death by his father, George Berman McCoy; and his sister Bernetta Denise. Buckley.
