Georgia Mae Howard was born on November 10, 1939, in Colorado City, Texas to her parents, George McGuire and Bessie Smith McGuire. She was the second oldest of ten children born in the family. She received her formal education by attending the public schools of Colorado City, Texas.
Georgia eventually relocated to Lubbock, Texas, where she met and later married, S.L. Howard. To this union, five children were born, Shelia, Timothy, Ronald, Ramona, and Steven. In 1963, they moved to Denver, Colorado. She was later blessed with twenty-five grandchildren and forty great grandchildren, who all were an additional source of joy and pride in her life. She was instrumental in raising three of her grandchildren, Nakiema, Quintin, and Cimone, after the passing of her daughter.
By profession, Georgia was employed by Norman and Sunny Brownstein. She was hard-working, dependable, and was loved and admired by the family. She had been with them for over forty years.
Georgia was a fun-loving woman, who enjoyed life and those she encircled. In her free time, she loved bowling. She was a member of the Avengers Bowling Club and had been so since 1990. She received numerous awards and trophies. She also enjoyed fishing, working in her garden, shopping, working jigsaw puzzles, and watching movies. All the family loved her cooking especially her dressing during the holiday season. She loved visiting the casinos and listening to music. Her favorite song was “Georgia On My Mind” by Ray Charles. She loved the quality time spent with family and friends. She will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this strong-willed woman, who had a wonderful sense of humor, and was loved by all her family. To know Georgia was to love her.
Georgia Mae Howard departed this life on June 22, 2021, in her home in Denver, Colorado. Those left to cherish her memory and mourn her loss include her daughter, Shelia K. Burns of Aurora, Colorado; 3 sons, Timothy W. Howard, Ronald B. (Jhenita) Howard all of Aurora, Colorado and Steven D. Howard of Denver, Colorado; 1 brother, L.J. (Francis) McGuire of Colorado City, Texas; 1 sister, Emma L. Edwards of Denver, Colorado; 25 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
