Gail Clayborne

June 3, 1952 — July 22, 2014

Gail Marie Clayborne was born on June 3, 1952, in New Orleans, Louisiana to her parents, Thomas James Clayborne and Christine Carter Clayborne. She was the second child born in the family. She was raised surrounded by her brothers, Terry, Derrick, Rinaldo and her sisters, Sharon, Arnetta and Jeanetta. As a child, she loved traveling with her parents and would be the first to jump in the car. She loved the many sites as they went to different places. Her siblings remember her roller skating and being very good at double-dutch jump roping. She was always competitive. Gail received her formal education by graduating from high school in Chicago, Illinois. She furthered her education by attending Metro State College in Denver, Colorado, where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Education and Business Management. Gail was the proud mother of four sons, Ron, Dana, Cameron, and Kerion. She was later blessed with seven grandchildren, DaTreanna, Ron, Rheonna, Kaelyn, Konlea, Chuntelle and Chaday who all were an additional source of joy and pride in her life. They affectionately called her "Suga Mama" and fondly remember her cooking for them and having wonderful Christmas's and spending quality time as a family. By profession, Gail was an Accountant and Travel Consultant. She was employed by G&K Services as their Accounts Payable Manager. She was hard-working, fair and worked well with each person placed in her charge. She was respected by her supervisors and admired for her ability to form a personal bond with her co-workers. A woman of faith and belief in the Lord, Gail enjoyed attending worship service at Shorter AME Church in Denver. She was a fun loving woman, who enjoyed life and those she encircled. In her free time, she enjoyed attending dances, shopping and traveling with her family. She was a great conversationalist and enjoyed socializing and mentoring. Her closest friends, Vanessa and Sylvia will miss the love they all shared for one another and the fact that she was a true and genuine friend. She will be remembered for her great smile and jovial personality. She was the type of person who didn't mind lending a helping hand or listening ear. She was both knowledgeable and a self-starter. She was an excellent Event Planner and equally talented Travel Consultant. She loved including her family in all activities. She was a loving mother, an attentive grandmother, a loyal sister and devoted friend. She will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known this kind, warm hearted woman. To know Gail was to love her. She is preceded in death by a son, Dana Dupree Crawford; her parents, Thomas J. Clayborne and Christine Carter; her sister, Deborah Clayborne, and her stepmom, Faye Dora Clayborne. Gail Marie Clayborne departed this life on July 22, 2014, in Denver, Colorado.
