Capers Irving

Capers Wesley Irving was born on January 30, 1927, in Dallas, Texas to his parents, Capers Irving and Juanita Hicks Irving. He was raised surrounded by his brothers, Curtis, Clinton; his sisters, Ruth, Jean and Rose. Growing up in Dallas, Capers shared a very special closeness with his mother. He received his early education in Dallas where he attended the local public schools with his siblings. Capers started working early in life because he enjoyed having his own money and always wanted to be of help to his mother. Capers met Inell Riley in Denver, Colorado. They shared many happy and precious moments together. To this union, one son Michael was born. He was a caring man who was protective of his family. He was later blessed with three grandchildren and five great grandchildren who were an additional source of joy and pride in his life. By profession, Capers was employed as a Cab Driver for Metro Cab Company. He is remembered as being hardworking, dedicated, dependable and offered his patron service with a smile. He retired after many years of faithful and dedicated service A man of faith and belief in the Lord, Capers truly believed in the Lord and power of prayer. He felt everyone should have the right relationship with the Lord. Capers was a longtime member of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). He was proud of the fact that he had been clean and sober for over forty years. He was a sponsor to many and offered support to those who suffered from the addiction. His courage and strength for others was extremely admirable. Capers was a fun loving man who enjoyed life and those he encircled. In his free time, he was an avid Denver Bronco fan. He enjoyed watching the games and supporting his team. He will be missed by all who were fortunate enough this one of a kind guy. To know Capers was to love him. Capers Wesley Irving, Jr. departed this life on November 24, 2013, in Denver, Colorado. Those left to cherish his memory and mourn his loss include his son, Michael A. (LaToya) Irving of Denver; three grandchildren, Chinka (Sheldon) Reynolds of Cary, North Carolina, Shawnese Rene Irving and Mercedes Irving both of Aurora and a host of other relatives and many friends.
