Precious Memories
Julian Tyrone Jones was born on July 19, 1976 in Denver, Colorado to proud parents, Raymond (Ray) Cutler, Jr. and Debra Elaine Gore-Johnson.

Julian was reared in Denver where he attended elementary, middle school, and high school. From a young boy through his teen years, Julian was a member of Solomon Temple Missionary Baptist Church, Leroy Lengyon, Pastor. He enjoyed participating with the Youth Department, Young Adult Choir, and Usher Board for many years. He also enjoyed his roles in the Church Plays. He was Baptized at St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church, still under the Leadership of Pastor Lengyon. Years later as a young man, Julian brought his small children, Julian Jones and Aaliyah Jones to Sunday School at St. Stephen, and would sit there and hear the lesson with them. This was his children’s introduction to our Savior Jesus Christ.

Julian learned a trade and worked professionally as a Maintenance Technician for the Tamarac Square. He excelled at this profession so much, that he was often called upon to perform various home repairs for family members and only charged just pennies on the dollar! Despite his skill as an All-Around Handyman, Julian’s true love & talent was Singing and Rapping (mostly singing) which he expressed at weddings, Karaoke, and even was afforded an opportunity to briefly perform at one of Denver’s local nightclubs. Anyone that knew Julian knew he had a knack for, and took enjoyment in being in front of an audience!

He possessed a unique sense of humor, and eventually would pull a laugh from those he interacted with. Occasionally, Julian was that rare-Jokester that left his unsuspecting “victim” totally blushed.

At 6’6″, a handsome face, and athletic build, some would call Julian a ladies man, but in this respect he carried himself quite humbly. Though he got off-track as a Dad, his two greatest accomplishments in life were his children, Julian and Aaliyah. Sadly, four months before he became seriously ill, he reflected on how he would like to start spending time with them and took the initiative to purchase bunk-beds… in his mind, this was a good first step.

Julian Tyrone Jones departed this earth on June 17, 2019. He’s preceded in death by his Mother, Debra Elaine Gore-Johnson. He leaves to cherish his memory, his Father Raymond Cutler, Jr., Son Julian Jones, Daughter Aaliyah Jones, Sister Alicia Johnson, Grandmother Marceline Cutler, and a host of other Siblings, Relatives and Friends.

  1. Alicia my prayers are with you. I have fond memories of Julian. When he would come to the Center. I enjoyed talking to him. He had a unique perspective on life. May God strengthen and comfort you doing this time. Sending you hugs, love and prayers.

  2. I remember Julian’s beautiful face and bright spirit as a child. His mother and I were best friends our kids play together often. God bless you Alicia and family. Ava (Bookman) Jackson

  3. Julian our handsome and quite-special nephew… Some say only the good die young. Right now we reckon this may be true as you’ve now departed, and you departed with a golden-heart–YES a good, good, heart! Blessed with a voice that could tour-the-world and open for Luther V., we’re sorry you didn’t get to fulfill your big singing dream–BUT quite hopeful that you’ll be able to sing in HEAVEN! Wouldn’t it be something if you could be a Choir-Director up there? One can hope right? The important thing is that you’ll be awaiting the rest of us that are still here. I know you purchased those bunk-bed’s and were hoping Julian and Aaliyah could start spending quality time with you. Granny Marcie told us about the beds when we were celebrating Julian’s recent graduation. Well JuJu, that quality-time may not have happened just as you wanted or even planned, but in GOD’s Kingdom there will be no measure of the quality time we can all have together. When death turns our emotions inside out, years and years–a lifetime actually, of memories flood in. We remember the good, the so-so, and the not-so-good, but JuJu, we will only carry in our hearts’ the Good! We will continue to cheer for Aaliyah at her softball games, guide Julian down his next life path, and share your stories in hopes that those stories stir feelings of laughter and comfort. Love your Aunts & Uncle (April, Veletta & Anthony) who in this life loved you to the Moon–but now love you to Heaven–a place of unimaginable Love, Laughter, Peace, Goodness and Joy!

  4. So sorry to read about the loss of Julian. Know the God cares about us and is the God of all comfort and promise to swallow up death forever soon Isaiah 25: 8

  5. My condolences to the family of Julian. Julian was a cool guy~I went to school with him from elementary through High School & was very saddened & shocked to see that he passed. May the family find strength & encouragement from the fact that our Creator promises to remember & bring back to life those that have passed away~even those who did not serve him. In fact Acts 24:15 states “…that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous.” May God continue to give you peace & comfort until that time.
